Recreation Management:  Solve Access Issues

Providing access to lockers or other spaces is useful for a wide variety of facilities, from fitness club and aquatic center locker rentals to allowing temporary access to spaces like campground cabins and more.

Providing access to customers can be a challenge, though, requiring your staff to spend valuable time coding and recoding locks, helping customers who forgot their combination, or managing other unwieldy access solutions.

Switching to remote access generation saves staff from the hassle of other locking solutions and provides simplicity for guests. New technology enables you to create date- and time-sensitive temporary coded access for locks.

Generate remote access via a code function, enabling administrators or staff to generate a single-use code via an online portal, App or API. Generated codes can then be sent via text or email, giving the recipient access to the locked locker or space on a specific date for a set period. Once the time is up, the code expires.

Here’s a quick look at how it works on a locker: The customer requests to utilize a locker and makes a booking payment, if necessary. A locker is randomly assigned with a 7-digit code automatically generated and then shared with the customer. The customer inputs the code, opens the locker and stores their belongings. Once the set duration is up, the code will unlock the locker, making it available for the next customer.

Flexible, temporary codes provide access within a pre-determined date and time range chosen at the time of generating the code. No Wi-Fi is required, significantly increasing the potential for use in areas where Wi-Fi is unavailable or intermittent, helping customers to issue a code and manage access control wherever they are, even in the most remote locations.

A variety of code types can be deployed. For example, standard multi-use allows users to access the locker multiple times during the duration of the code. For memberships at gyms and aquatic facilities, a long-term rental offers access for up to a year and blocks previous users by default. Or you can set it up with an end date—a code that will expire on a set date up to 365 days from the code generation. A 24-hour code lasts 24 hours and can be set up for multi-use or single-use.

A blocking feature can automatically block the previous code when a new code is entered, preventing problems like theft. And for forgetful guests, a personal user code can allow a user to create a four-digit number that retains the same validity period as the original code.
